New Life

It has been quite sometime since I have ventured to write here. So, I suppose an update is in order.

Since the last post we welcomed our newest family member into the world, Isabella Clover, on March 18. She was 7lbs 8 3/4 oz. I never cease to be amazed by God’s goodness. It’s funny how looking toward the future you just can’t imagine yourself doing certain things. When I was pregnant with her, imagining giving birth and raising a child seemed so wild to me. Now I couldn’t imagine life without her. What a wonderful blessing new life is!

I am honored to be her mommy, and completely scared all at the same time. I hope that I can be a godly example for her, that I can point her to Jesus- the lover of her soul.

Talk is Cheap

I’m going to try to do better with blogging. Sad thing is that lately I haven’t really been too inspired to write. I love to write, and I suppose I’ve just had “writer’s block”. Or perhaps, it’s my fault for not seeking after God the way I should, the way I used to. I always learn more and am given more insight when I’m focusing on him. I think I’ve probably been focusing too much on myself and my circumstances. Not having a job is tough!!! And I’ve probably been playing the “poor pitiful me” card a little too much.

I have been reading this book, “Blue Like Jazz” by Donald Miller. It’s probably the second or third time i’ve read it. It’s a good book, but there are parts of it that I don’t particularly agree with, but for the most part, it’s very enlightening. The tagline on the book is ‘Nonreligious thoughts on Christian Spirituality’. He does say something in the very beginning of the book that I find quite profound. He says, “Sometimes you have to watch somebody love something before you can love it yourself. It’s as if they are showing you the way”. I guess it really nails the fact that I can’t just tell someone about Jesus and how much He loves them, and how much I love Him. It something that they need to SEE. They need to see us loving Jesus. Talk is cheap… not to say that talk isn’t good… but talk is cheap. I think I used to have a shirt that said that… Talk is no good unless you live what you believe.

Labor of Love.

I was just thinking about the upcoming holidays, Christmas especially. I am actually quite bummed because I fear that we may not be home for Christmas. And in my thinking, I have realized how much I have grown up over the past several years. Christmas is no longer about the excitment of gifts, it’s about family, about being with those you love. Christ’s birth first and foremost was the ultimate gift of love, and I know that sharing Christmas with our families is an example of that love. Presents don’t matter, it’s the bond that we share with our loved ones.

“The baby in her womb, He was the maker of the moon, He was the author of the Faith that could make the mountains move.” I LOVE knowing that. That’s actually a line from a song I found on youtube today. I heard this song a couple years ago, and absolutely loved it. It brings tears to my eyes, and makes me realize what great love God has for us, and what great obedience Mary had in following God. With Christmas just around the corner, I thought I would share it with you.
